No matter how successful we are, no matter how much money and possessions we have, no matter what our ambitions are…we all ultimately have to grapple with the the inevitable: the decline of the human mind and body as we get older.

So many of us look for solutions like wrinkle cream, prescription drugs, plastic surgery, and on and on. We can go on down the list all day…

But by now you know me pretty well. I’m always looking for the inner solution—the power within us to contend with any challenge we face–including aging.

Well, I talk a lot about flow state and the importance it holds in creativity, performance, battling mental health challenges, etc…  And lately, I’ve begun to connect these dots with the help of my good friend Steven Kotler and his new book, “Gnar Country.”

Now, if you attended our Open House events in April (either virtual or in-person), you know that flow state has worked to literally save the life of someone very close to me.

So if you’re over 50 like me, and you really want to take the bull by the horns in the second half of your life, the following might give you just what you’re looking for. Take a look:

Now, I’d love to hear from you. What you are doing to contend with father time?

Where do you feel you are on the scale from “declining” to “thriving”?

Even if you’ve yet to pass the half-century mark, what wisdom are you planning to take into your 50’s and beyond?

I’ve seen flow state work wonders in business and mental health, and I think Gnar Country really serves as a guidebook for those of us above 50 who need a little push.

Maybe, just maybe, we can use it to squeeze more juice out of the lemon we call life.

(And maybe even add a little sand to the hourglass while we’re at it!

Cheers,
